Story Time at Home: Jazz
Welcome to Story Time at Home! Each month we will search high and low for great books and songs for babies and toddlers and PreK to third graders. In celebration of Black History Month we will reading books about jazz and Black jazz musicians this month.
Below we’ve listed our favorite tales for babies to toddlers and PreK to third graders, along with finger plays, songs, and a craft for each age group.
And if you want to learn more about jazz, stop by your local library branch or check out mytpl.org for access to materials.
We hope you enjoy your story time at home and can’t wait to see you all back at the library!

Books for PreK and Up
Songs
This month, we are doing things a little different. Instead of our usual fingerplays and songs, we are instead going to share three videos of some of the best jazz musicians that you can listen to with the children in your life. We recommend listening to them while you do the craft below. Enjoy!
Jazzy Mosaic Craft for All Ages
This jazzy mosaic is a great craft for all ages. For babies and toddlers they can use their hands and finger paints to add the color. For older children they can use of construction paper, wrapping paper, newspaper, or magazines.
