There’s no doubt that this year has been different. Something that is evolving during this time of change is education. You may be learning from home, a facilityor some combination of both. Terrebonne Parish Library has a variety of resources for all ages that can help wherever you are on your educational journey. We also have a few free suggested websites listed at the bottom of this page.

Library Resources

Academic Search Complete is a comprehensive scholarly database, with more than 7,900 full-text periodicals, including more than 6,800 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 11,900 journals and a total of more than 12,600 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. 

Britannica Digital Learning provides instant access to over 300 full text books from the publishers of Encyclopedia Britannica. This collection offers a wide range of informative nonfiction books, for preschool to adult readers. 

HomeworkLouisiana offers FREE online tutoring and academic resources from Tutor.com for Louisiana residents. Get help in math, science, social studies or English from a live tutor. The service can be accessed from any Louisiana public library or from your home computer. 

Organized into targeted learning centers, LearningExpress Library supports those looking to improve core academic skills, pass the GED®, prepare for college, join the military, obtain occupational certification, find a job, change careers, become a U.S. citizen and much more. 

MAS Ultra is designed specifically for high school libraries. This database contains full text for nearly 500 popular high school magazines, more than 360 full-text reference books, 85,670 biographies, over 107,000 primary source documents, and an image collection of over 510,000 photos, maps & flags, color PDFs and expanded full text backfiles (back to 1975) for key magazines. 

TumbleBookLibrary is a curated database of children’s e-books, available by subscription to Elementary Schools and Public Libraries around the world. This resources has over 1100 titles for grades K-6, and includes our unique animated, talking picture books, read-along chapter books, National Geographic videos, non-fiction books, playlists, as well as books in Spanish and French. Plus, the collection features Graphic Novels – a student favorite! 

Developed especially for young public library patrons, World Book Kids offers easy-to-read articles and a wealth of engaging multimedia, games, science projects, interactive tools, and activities. 

Word Book Student contains content and features designed for school-aged patrons’ homework and research needs. Based on the World Book Encyclopedia, the site features rich collections of multimedia on a variety of topics, science fair projects; a Biography Center; links to world newspapers, correlations to curriculum standards, 21st-century research guides, and much more.

Accelerated Reader Bookfinder allows you to search for book titles based on authors, topics, or titles of books. Just type what you want to search for in the blank field above and click Search. You will then be able to sort your search results, select book titles to add to your AR BookBag, print a list of your search results, or start a new search.

From Microsoft Office and email, to reading, math, and more—GCFLearnFree.org offers more than 200 topics, including more than 2,000 lessons, more than 1,000 videos, and more than 50 interactives and games, completely free. View one tutorial. Complete an entire self-paced course. We believe there’s freedom in the ability to learn what you want, when you want, regardless of income or circumstances. We offer tutorials on the subjects you need to continue your education—or get it started. 

Open Culture provides provides a list of free educational resources for K-12 students (kindergarten through high school students) and their parents and teachers.
