Putting Books on Hold from Home

Need a book and can’t get to the library right away?  We have a web site for that.

Type “mytpl.org” into your web browser’s address bar to begin the process. You should see a page that looks like the image to the left.

In the upper right section of the library’s home page, type the title of book, the author’s name, or the subject in the “Search on Our Catalog” box and then click the magnifying glass on the right-hand side of the box. The example to the left shows “Harry Potter” as the title of choice.

The results page should look similar to this image.

Notice the little box in the far-right corner of that reads “Log In.”  Click on it.

This pop-up box should appear.

Type in your 14-digit library card number (with no spaces in-between the numbers) and your six-digit pin number in the spaces provided.  Your pin number should be your birthday represented in six digits: two for the day, two for the month, and two for the year.  For example: if you were born on February 2, 1962, your pin number would be 020262.  Click “Log In” in the pop-up box after entering your credentials.  Now you’re all set to pick out a book.

The left-hand menu contains several options you can use to narrow your search should you wish. For example: the top option, “All Locations,” can be narrowed to search a specific branch (Main, North, etc.) for a book.   The library’s courier service will transport a book from any branch to one you choose to pick up from although it might take a day or two.

Once you select a book to check out, click “Place Hold.”

You should see another pop-up box similar to the one above, which offers additional borrowing options.  Once you decide which copy you want to borrow, click “Submit Hold.”  A green bar will appear across the top of your screen if your hold was successfully placed.
