Checking Out/Renewing/Returning Items
Books, Books on Tape and Video’s and magazines check out for 2 weeks.
You may renew any items providing you have not exceeded the renewal limit and no one else has put a hold on these items.
You may renew library materials from outside the library in the following ways:
- You can renew your library materials at any of the Terrebonne Parish Libraries by calling during regular business hours. You can just ask the staff to renew your item.
- You may renew books by using our card catalog online. You can go to "My Account", but you must know your library card and PIN in order to use this feature. If you don't know your PIN, you will need to call your local branch.
If there are any requests by other patrons on your item, you will not be able to renew them. You may, however, place another request on that item once you return it.
You may return borrowed materials to any Terrebonne Parish Library location regardless of where you checked it out.
Computers
Yes, each of our branches has a number of computers available for the public to use.
It's free! That is just one of the services that we offer to our patrons. The only charge you will incur is to print out a document or purchase a external device to store your documents. Black and white printing is .10 cents and color prints are .50 cents per page. USB drives are $10.
Yes, you will need a valid library card that is free of any fines or overdue items. You must take care of any of these issues before the computer will allow you to sign on.
You may use a computer for one hour a day. Extensions may be granted on a as needed basis if there are PCs available with no other patrons waiting.
Yes. Each library branch has laptops available for checkout furnished by the State Library of Louisiana. Click here for the laptop lending agreement and restrictions, and the FAQs are available here. Please call your nearest branch for availability or with any questions you may have.

Donations/Dedications
You may request a form from your local library, or click here for a printable format. Once the form is complete, simply return it to your library so we can process your request.
If you would like to have a library book dedicated to your newborn, click here for a printable form, or drop by any branch to pick up a form. Please print clearly so we can spell baby's name correctly! You will receive notice from the library telling you the title of the book dedicated to your newborn and at which branch it will be located. Please bring completed form to the Terrebonne Parish Library nearest you.

Library Cards
Patrons wishing to receive a library card should complete a library card application at any of the Terrebonne parish libraries. Adults are required to show name and address identification, Students may show school ID’s and children under the age of 15 will need a parent’s signature to complete the application process.
The library system will acknowledge borrowers from the parishes of Lafourche and St. Mary.
Terrebonne Parish Library borrower’s cards are free of charge for individuals who reside own property or work in Terrebonne Parish. In the event that a card is lost, a replacement card will cost $5.00
Children who can write their first and last names and through the age of 14 years of age, with parental or guardian approval, can apply for a library card.
Students over fifteen (15) are required to provide the name of the school they attend and to use the parents as a reference for an adult card.
When applying for your library card let the library staff know your working condition and we will change your status to offshore which will give you 1 month check out privileges.
When your library card is issued to you it will expire two years from that date. When your library card is about to expire the computer will let us know so we make sure all your information is the same and we will then renew it.
